Wolverine 2

I also added the claws. I snipped little slivers of aluminium and then shaped them to fit onto the back of his hands.

  1. That pose is 'perfect' Wolverine. What size is he Rob ?

Paint/Detail is superb throughout and the custom claws look fantastic. I bet you could actually cut with him ;) For someone who says he isnt good with painting flesh thats pretty darn good fella.

Do you remember what brand he was so I can see the original box art ? I like to see before and afters as it really shows whats gone into the mod.

Love to see more if you have any.

  2. He's fairly big. If he stood up straight, he'd be a bit larger than the standard size of the Bowen statues. The Goblin statue comes from the same series and I may be right in thinking that the original sculpt was by Randy Bowen. I probably have the box top with the original image on it, I'll have a look tomorrow.

The 'blood' on the claws is actually fabric paint. I didn't have any proper red paint and made-do. Always meant to go and buy red paint and do it properly, but, well, um, ...

As for the skin, I think I painted it with flesh paint and then used a red wash that I wiped off. It seemed to work okay. I made a bit of a hash of the hairs, though.

I did, however, like the paint job on the brown sections. That turned out well, I think.

If you still have time on your hands you should try doing custom CMFC and show them on the forum.

Nobody bites over there, Beast might nibble a bit but its more friendly puppy than Pitbull ;)

I cant keep saying this forever or I will sound like a complete knob but I am continually impressed by your skills mate. Hats off !

  4. Because I never belonged to a club, or read any books, or got more than the most basic tips from my brother, I developed a rather idiosyncratic style, Toon. I dislike shiney costumes, it never seemed real to me, so I was always 'dirtying' things up. I ran a lot of black ink over figures - it's especially noticeable on Terrax. The guy made a very good job of his Wolverine - and I know how much work this particular model needs - but it's not my taste or style. He may feel the same over my version.

As time went on (I think I did this for a year or less), I got lazier and lazier with models. In the beginning, I used to fret over details. By the end, I was just painting a figure once and 'washing' it with ink! I knew then it was time to stop!

Wolverine annoys me as it's been half-heartedly patched up three or four times. Each of the last three moves has damaged it - usually the breaking off of an arm. It used to look better.
